The Parish Council is the main advisory body of the church, led by the Parish Priest. It includes all Novena Leaders, Divisional Leaders, and Heads of Church Societies. Together, they support the Parish Priest in spiritual, administrative, and community matters to strengthen the Church wellbeing.
St. Joseph's Dahampasala is engaged in the mission of evangelization basically through the weekly catechism sessions held both in Sinhala & English mediums and about four hundred children receive spiritual nourishment from 30 dedicated catechists.
Altar servers are the most essential group in every parish as they directly involve in the first and foremost duty of the church is the celebration of the Paschal Mystery through the Eucharist. Here in Kanuwana there are about 20 youngsters assembled as a society to share in this holy work around the table of the Lord

The Sacred Heart Society holds monthly meetings dedicated to reading the bible and engage in meaningful scripture discussions. They also organize a Holy Mass on the first Friday of each month, fostering spiritual growth and unity among members. In addition the society visits the sick, offering comfort and prayer support to help strengthen their faith during challenging times.
The Legion of Mary is a spiritual society in our church dedicated to prayer, service, and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Members work together to grow in faith and support the church through various acts of charity and outreach.
The Catholic youth are the heartbeat of the Catholic Church, carrying its future with faith, hope, and love.
Established in 2013, the St. Joseph’s Youth Association brings together a vibrant group of 20 young men and women, united under the inspiring motto: "Prosperous Life in God’s Love."
Our parish youth are blessed with exceptional talents, creativity, and a deep-rooted faith. They stand as living witnesses to the boundless love of God and the quiet strength of St. Joseph — the silent protector and giver — whose guidance continues to inspire their journey.
The Married Youth Society is a group of young married couples in our church who come together to grow in faith, support each other, and take part in church activities. They work to strengthen family life and build a strong spiritual community.
Media Unit of our church is one of the newest missions introduced to the church in order to provide a full media coverage to every special occasion held in the parish as well as to support the congregation gathered around the holy altar by preparing and presenting the prayers, responses and hymns. There are 12 members including some Dahampasal students.
The Business Committee is a group of dedicated businessmen from our village who work together to support the parish and uplift the community. Guided by faith and a spirit of service, they contribute their time, resources, and expertise to assist with church projects and promote the well-being of the parish family.

It consists of 25 youthful members, including both boys and girls. The choir is sung in the Sunday masses, and festive high masses like Easter, Church feast, Christmas, New years and other festive masses throughout the year.
The Vincent de Paul Community of St. Joseph's Church, Kanuwana, is committed to serving the needy in our community with compassion and respect, striving to embody Christ's love through tangible support and friendship.
